The Employment Authorization Document permits beneficiaries to work in the U.S. while they look for refuge or other legal status.
Around 2 million individuals apply for new or renewed work permits every year, as indicated by USCIS data. The process regularly takes five to seven months.
Under the new rule, people looking for work permits can pay $1,500 to have their applications considered in 30 days or less. The top notch charge ranges up to $2,500 for applications for different sorts of work related changes in legal status.
The USCIS manages demands for work permits, refuge, green cards, U.S. citizenship and other immigration benefits, including the temporary H-1B program for profoundly talented foreign workers.
The immigration agency has been battling with backlogs, which were exacerbated by the Covid pandemic. As of February, USCIS was evaluating more than 9.5 million pending applications, a 66% increment from the end of financial year 2019, as indicated by agency data.
