Convenience fee for app-based Aato rides to be finalised soon

The Karnataka government and ride-hailing apps are currently engaged in a legal dispute, and the former is anticipated to decide in the coming day or two how much of a convenience fee the latter may charge users who book auto rides using their platforms.

The amount that organisations like Ola and Uber can charge clients who book trips through their platforms must be spelled out in an affidavit that the Karnataka government’s transport department must submit to the High Court on Friday. The matter will be heard by Justice CM Poonacha on Monday. Uber, Ola, and Rapido were given notice last month by the Karnataka Transport Department to stop offering app-based auto rickshaw services within the state.
