The CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) said Around 6.17 crore ITRs (Income Tax Returns) and around 19 lakh major TARs (Tax Audit Reports) have been recorded on the new e-filling portal of the Income Tax Department as of sixth February 2022. The Department has been giving suggestions to citizens through electronic-mails, SMS and Twitter encouraging citizens and Chartered Accountants not to stand by till the latest possible second and record their TARs/ITRs right away.
“Around 6.17 crore income tax returns (ITRs) and about 19 lakh major tax audit reports (TARs) have been filed on the new e-filing portal of the income tax department as on February 6, 2022,” the CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) said in a statement.
The government of India had in January stretched out till March 15 the cutoff time for corporates to file annual income tax for the fiscal ended March 2021, while the equivalent for filing tax audit report and transfer pricing audit report for 2020-21 fiscal is February 15.
