The tech giant referred to the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) ruling as a significant setback for Indian consumers and businesses a day after the CCI penalised Google for abusing its dominant position in the Android smartphone market.
In a statement, Google said that it is presently examining the verdict and will decide on the appropriate course of action. “Android has given everyone more options and has helped thousands of successful businesses in India and around the world.” Google claims that “Indians who trust Android’s security features” are at considerable security risk as a result of the CCI’s antitrust ruling. Google also expressed worry that the ban might make mobile devices more expensive for Indians. Google was fined INR 1,337.76 crore by the competition authority on Thursday for abusing its dominating position in the Android handset market.
