Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg introduced WhatsApp Communities, which let users create smaller groups inside of larger groups. The fact that the feature is finally being made available to WhatsApp beta users after months of waiting suggests that a stable rollout is imminent.
The communities option has reportedly appeared for certain users who have updated to WhatsApp beta v2.22.193 for Android, according to a recent report by WABetaInfo. Some beta testers may need to force close and restart the app before the feature appears for them on the most recent version, according to sources.
On the main WhatsApp interface, the camera tab will be replaced by a new communities option for those who are successful in gaining access. Anyone who has access to the new Communities page can create a Community with up to 10 groups and 512 participants.
