Government is changing the FAME-II scheme to address policy flaws

According to reports, the Indian government is considering revising the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles (FAME)-II initiative and emphasising more on domestic value addition (DVA).

A presentation to car makers and a note from the Ministry of Heavy Industries indicated, according to a story in the Economic Times, that a digital system will be used to determine the DVA. Just two weeks prior, the ministry introduced an automated online data transfer system to capture crucial DVA data from the ERP systems of PLI applicants and upload it to the PLI Auto Portal. The ministry’s most recent presentation to automakers stated that “DVA data is required to be calculated and stored into OEMs’ ERP systems at the granularity level,” according to the publication.
