Casual game startup Giga Fun Studios raised $2.4 million in Seed funding from gaming and interactive media-focused VC funds Lumikai and Fireside Ventures, with participation from All In Capital, Kettleborough VC, and Riverwalk Holdings.
The company would use the additional funding to create casual games of “excellent quality” for Indian and international players. The company stated in a statement that it plans to make significant investments in developing a world-class workforce as a hub for independent game developers. According to the company, Giga Fun Studios will also concentrate on developing games with local accessibility across the whole game stack, including straightforward yet engaging game loops, customised UI/UX for domestic players, reasonable pricing, and distribution through third-party app stores. At the end of FY22, a KPMG report estimated that the Indian online gaming market would be worth INR 14,500–15,500 Cr. Over 90% of the 430–460 million users were casual or mobile game players.
