Facebook hacked trend on Twitter as random celeb spam clogs news feed

Users who complained that spam from celebrity accounts was filling up their news feeds caused a Facebook outage. Numerous users in the US and the UK have complained that their news feeds are overrun with celebrity posts referencing well-known musicians like Eminem, Billie Eilish, and One Direction.

Many users who reported the glitch on Twitter also shared screenshots of their news feeds. According to Downdetector, the number of outages reported on Wednesday peaked between 12 and 3 p.m., with 339 reports at 1:05 p.m. 60% of outages were reported on the app, 26% on the feed, and 14% on the website, according to the outage tracking website. In the meantime, the United States and the United Kingdom reported thousands of outages.
