TN Government is urged by the Esports Players Association to not combine skill games with gambling

The Esports Players Welfare Association (EPWA) has urged the Tamil Nadu government to distinguish between games of skill and gambling while it tries to regulate online gaming. The group has proposed that the state recognise skill games as a separate sport from gambling in a report to the government.

The association’s position is that the government should create a safe harbour for professional, amateur, and casual online skill gamers by exempting them from any state-related gambling or gaming legislation. The criminalization of skill-based players is occurring, according to Shivani Jha, director of the EPWA, as a result of numerous regulations and the classification of skill-based games as gambling.
