The Kerala High Court mandated that rules and guidelines be created by the state government for the construction of Electric vehicle charging stations in apartment buildings. In response to a petition brought by two residents of Kochi who wanted to establish an EV charging station on their own but were opposed by the apartment owners association, Justice VG Arun issued the order. The court found that “adequate provision ought to be made” to offer charging outlets in apartment complexes where EV owners reside, taking into account the Kerala government’s EV policy and the state’s remarkable increase in the number of Electrical vehicles.
