A hacker claims to have stolen approximately 400 million Twitter users’ data and sold it on the dark web.
The database, according to Israeli cyber intelligence company Hudson Rock, has a staggering quantity of data, including the emails and phone numbers of prominent users.
Hudson Rock has posted images of the Twitter post where the hacker disclosed details about the data theft.
Data regarding the WHO, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and American artist Charlie Puth are among the entities whose data has been stolen.
The hacker stated in his post, “I am offering data of +400 million unique Twitter users that was scraped via a vulnerability, this data is completely private.
According to the story, the hacker who claims to have stolen the data has made Twitter an offer.
“Twitter or Elon Musk, if you are reading this post, you are already at risk of GDPR fines for the data leak of over 54 million users. Now fines for data leak of 400 million users,” the hacker said.
“Your best option to avoid paying $2.76 million in CDPR breach fines like Facebook did (due to 533 million users being scraped) is to buy this data exclusively,” it continued.
He declared himself willing to work with any middleman.
In addition, he said, “I will delete this thread and will not sell this info again”.
