In a letter to the Union Labour Ministry, the employee union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has asked for government assistance in Amazon’s layoffs in India.
Amazon was charged with breaking Indian labour regulations by the union representing IT/ITeS workers in a letter to the labour minister, Bhupendra Yadav. Amazon employees, who allege they are being compelled to quit the company voluntarily, have complained to NITES, according to NITES. Amazon recently revealed that it would be terminating 10,000 employees worldwide in the corporate and technology sectors. India accounts for approximately 7% of global employment.
