The Dutch company Lightyear, which is working on creating a long-distance solar-powered automobile, has raised $85 million from Invest-NL and private investors including SHV and Dela as it gets ready to start making its first car in the near future.
The Lightyear 0 (formerly known as Lightyear One) car, which will go on sale this fall for a cool $240,000, is scheduled to go into production this fall. Lightyear is currently hard at work on the Lightyear 2, its complete mass-market vehicle, which will start going into production in 2025 and cost less than $20,000.
