The top public medical institute in India, All India Institute of Medical Services, or AIIMS, is experiencing outages as a result of a cyberattack. The downtime includes patient admission, discharge, and billing systems, which have an impact on hundreds of patients and physicians. Attending AIIMS are tens of thousands of medical undergraduate and graduate students. It is also one of the biggest state-owned hospitals with more than 2,200 beds. The intrusion, which was discovered on Wednesday night in New Delhi, looks to be compatible with a ransomware attack, said the hospital officials, given the infected files’ extensions were changed by the perpetrators. Officials from AIIMS claim that starting early on Wednesday, patient care services have been seriously disrupted.
