In order to remove the need for users to scroll through pages to get relevant search results for English-language queries in the United States, Google is introducing a “Continuous Scrolling” feature on the desktop. This builds on a capability that the firm has long provided on mobile.
Users should be aware that continuous scrolling and limitless scrolling are two different things. Before seeing the “More” option to continue scrolling for more results, users can scroll down to see up to six pages of search results. Google only allows four pages of search results to be continuously scrolled on mobile devices at once. Google has always “paged” its search results. To view additional results in the past, visitors had to click the page number at the bottom of the search result page after scrolling down.
