In July 2022, Google removed 6,89,457 pieces of content after receiving 37,173 complaints from people in India via various grievance redress mechanisms. The quantity of complaints and Google’s content removal action in India both increased in July. While the number of content items removed grew by 7.67%, the number of complaints increased by 13.61% month over month (MoM). The remaining complaints were broken down into eight separate categories, with copyright infringement accounting for more than 96% of those received during the month. Google removed 1,37,657 pieces of content from a variety of categories as a result of user complaints, with 98.3% of the content being removed for copyright violations.
