Google blocked Truth Social from the Play Store

In light of Google’s decision to block the Truth Social app from releasing on the Play Store owing to content moderation concerns, begs the question, Why Apple hasn’t taken similar action against the iOS version of the app, which has been available on the Apple App Store since February. Axios claims that Google prevented the app from going live on its platform after learning of multiple posts that broke the Play Store’s content guidelines. But it seems like some of these posts are accessible via the iOS app.

Given that Apple and Google have virtually comparable standards about how apps with user-generated material must manage their content, this could prompt a review of Truth Social’s iOS app.

This week, Axios reported that Google has decided to restrict the distribution of the Truth Social app on its platform following an interview with the CEO of the application, Devin Nunes.

The CEO of social media, a former congressman and member of Trump’s transition team, indicated that Google was to blame for the delay in the app’s Android release, saying, “We’re waiting on them to approve us, and I don’t know what’s taking so long.”
