A rule that barred users from reporting health-code violations on the restaurant discovery and meal delivery platform has been removed from Zomato’s content policy.
The response came after a user tweeted on Sunday that Zomato had deleted a review she had placed about contracting food poisoning at a restaurant in Bengaluru because it violated the platform’s content policy. Zomato’s founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal, stated on Twitter that “This “policy” within our content guidelines is the result of (legal) overthinking, and we have removed this policy with immediate effect.” We have already reinstated your review. Thank you for drawing our attention to this and influencing positive change.”
