A survey distributed to creators in the Spotify for Podcasters programme revealed that the streaming behemoth may be disposing with the Anchor brand.
Free podcast hosting provider Anchor was acquired by Spotify for $340 million in a deal that also included the studio Gimlet. In 2020, 1 million new podcasts were produced using Anchor’s service, which made up 80% of all new shows added to Spotify. But now that Anchor has been a part of Spotify for almost three years, it seems the business is considering renaming. In a poll given to certain podcasters who have claimed their show on Spotify for Podcasters, the user research team at Spotify provided details about the potential rebrand, which is still being tested with prospective users.
