The Picture-based Information News Accumulator and Key Information Analyzer (Pinaka) system was created by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to analyse various television programmes on bourses and compile a database of recommendations made by these programmes. The Economic Times claims that by putting Pinaka into practise, SEBI would rigorously examine stock recommendations made by TV shows and will disclose any wrongdoings. The regulator will employ SEBI’s big-data network, which will include Pinaka’s database, to carry out stock market-related inspections. Through programming, Pinaka will scan all popular television programmes and present stock recommendations. After harvesting unstructured data for surveillance purposes, it will transform it into structured data.
