After Monday’s (August 15) Independence Day celebrations, facial recognition technologies for passenger verification were implemented at the airports in Delhi and Bengaluru.
At the T3 terminal of Delhi International Airport, which is served by AirAsia India, Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Vistara, authorities have deployed a beta version of the DigiYatra. Two airlines, AirAsia India and Vistara, on the other hand, have launched the service at Bengaluru International Airport for domestic travellers. At all touchpoints, including the airport entrance, security checkpoint, and boarding gate, passenger entry and verification will be automated.
Based on the usage of single token face biometrics, the app will create a traveler’s identification using facial traits, which will subsequently be linked to the app.
