Esports received a huge boost from the Indian government on Tuesday when it was incorporated among the nation’s established sports disciplines. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, revised the regulations governing eSports in accordance with the authority “conferred by clause (3) of article 77 of the Constitution” and requested the Sports Ministry and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to include “e-Sports as part of multi-sports events.” There has been an increase in demand for Esports to be included in the curriculum of multi-discipline events since it was featured as a demonstration sport at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, where medals won in the sport were not included in the official total medal tally.
