Business Business Stories Interviews Leadership Technology

Google search may feature a ChatGPT rival after all

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the creators of Google, met with business leaders to talk about ChatGPT, the well-known chatbot that has dominated tech news since its release in late 2022. The meetings and how OpenAI’s chatbot changed conversations within Google’s inner circle were covered by The New York Times.

According to two unnamed persons with knowledge of the conversations, Google CEO Sundar Pichai invited Page and Brin to a meeting concerning artificial intelligence (AI). The company’s founders left their day-to-day positions at Google in 2019, but they are still active in Alphabet’s “Other Bet” projects. The founders reportedly gave their approval to plans to integrate chatbot functionality into Google’s search engine and offered current company leadership guidance.
