By the end of FY24, The Walt Disney Co. will only have 80 million Disney+Hotstar subscribers in India and other Asian nations, down from its original aim of 100 million.
By FY24, the total number of Disney+ subscribers will drop from the initial projection of 230-260 million to about 215-245 million. On the company’s earnings call, Christine McCarthy, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of Walt Disney, said, “We are revising subscriber guidance for Disney+ Hotstar to up to 80 Mn consumers by the end of fiscal 2024.” McCarthy said that Walt Disney will further sharpen this goal after the ICC and BCCI cricket rights auction procedures are completed.
