Amazon Academy, an online learning programme for high school students that it introduced in India last year, will be shut down, the firm said on Thursday.
The retailer claims that starting in August 2023, it would gradually stop offering the edtech service across the nation. The notification states that anyone who signed up for the current academic batch would be given a complete refund. Amazon tested the technology from mid-2019 before launching Academy, formerly known as JEE Ready, in early 2018. The Academy aimed to help students get ready for entry into the elite engineering universities around the country. In order to help students learn and practise math, physics, and chemistry in preparation for the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE), a government-backed engineering entrance examination held in India for admission to various engineering colleges, the service offered curated learning material, live lectures, mock tests, and thorough assessments.
